Brief role description

This position is responsible for driving process improvements and best practices (productivity, safety, quality, accuracy) for the Broadline Supply Chain Network. Subject matter expert for new tools, technologies, lean concepts, warehouse and transportation management, labor management systems and enhancements.
Primary areas of responsibility
Enabling Operational Excellence by identifying and developing best practices across the organization on key initiatives for productivity, customer service, and safety. Determines benchmarks for each location develops plans for incremental improvement, and measures progress for reporting and potential corrective action.
Implements lean practices for Supply Chain by communicating initiatives including instructions and guidance for productivity improvement processes.
Creates a project checklist, sets expectations, ensures adherence to project guidelines and deadlines, answers questions, solves or escalates system issues, reports on progress, and measures the impact of lean processes.
Provides training to field level managers on all processes and systems within Supply Chain including new applications and systems.
Develops and distributes training materials to field operations. Troubleshoots with local management on questions and finds solutions for problems.
Reports key performance indicators on productivity and outstanding issues of process improvement initiatives to senior management.
Partner with the network planning team, ops finance, and other SSC departments to support the field teams.
Lead, manage, develop and motivate a team of Supply Chain Process Improvement experts.
Education
MBA preferred.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Supply Chain/Logistics.
Minimum Experience
Minimum 5 years of direct experience in distribution.
Skills
Experience leading, coaching and supervising an operations team.
Experience in a consumer-facing industry such as consumer packaged goods and/or retail is desirable; experience with the food industry (manufacturing/ processing, distribution, retailing) is preferred
Experience with managing projects including prioritization of tasks and meeting deadlines a plus.
Knowledge of TQM (Six Sigma, Lean) preferred.
Excellent follow-up and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
Must have good presentation skills and be comfortable speaking in front of groups.
Proactively recognize potential problem areas and troubleshoot effectively.
Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
