Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Sustainable Procurement will be responsible for leading the formation and implementation of sustainable procurement strategies for Invenergy's renewable project pipeline, in alignment with Invenergy's company-wide Environmental Social Governance (ESG) policies and initiatives. The on-site position will be based in Chicago, Illinois and will require travel up to 10-15% of the time. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Global Sourcing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with suppliers to identify strategic sourcing opportunities to progress Invenergy's sustainability objectives.
  • Identify and analyze emissions data streams from suppliers to assess Scope 3 emissions profiles. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure data collection as well as data analysis tools and methods are in line with prudent industry practices and align across the company.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement corporate supplier diversity strategies that aim to achieve supply chain diversity and inclusion, meet customer expectations, and deliver results in accordance with company objectives.
  • Continually assess supplier onboarding and selection criteria to incorporate market sustainability metrics.
  • Research technologies and emerging market drivers that align with Invenergy's sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to continually ensure that Invenergy's sourcing and procurement approach aligns with company sustainability objectives.
  • Grow and manage a team of sustainable supply chain and procurement professionals in support of Invenergy sustainable procurement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, or a physical science
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management or procurement
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry with a demonstrated interest in sustainable procurement. People management experience is a plus.
  • Background in sustainability and ESG practices. Understanding of different classifications of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and relevant metrics is a plus.
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation and contract management skills with an understanding of the legal aspects of procurement.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deliverables and projects concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and disciplines.
