Job Description - Senior Manager/Director, Technology Strategy

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager or Director to help drive strategic initiatives within the technology space. Core responsibilities include leading and executing on a range of strategic projects within the technology space as well as building and developing partnerships with each of our core technology partners. This role requires experience with developing technology strategy, business acumen, building partnerships and relationship management skills. A great role for a mid-career strategic technology professional, keen to work broadly with different partners on cutting edge applications of technology within construction.

Strategy:
Spearhead development and execution of technology strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Lead a variety of strategy projects that could include, but is not limited to

Lead market scans and technology assessments to identify trends in emerging technologies
Develop strategies for the implementation of cutting edge technology (e.g., AI)
Build business cases for technology investments
Develop 5 year technology roadmap

Partnerships:
Partnership Identification: In addition to current partners, scan the technological landscape to identify potential partners that align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
Strategic playbook development: For each identified partner, understand their priorities and capabilities and develop the strategic playbook for each, ensuring they fit cohesively within the broader corporate technology strategy.
Initiative Development: Brainstorm and identify mutually beneficial initiatives; define scope and business case for each; identify resources, develop project plan, and launch approved initiatives.
Negotiation & Onboarding: Lead the negotiation process with potential partners, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Oversee the integration of new partners into the company's ecosystem.
Performance Management: Monitor the success of partnerships via defined goals and metrics. Regularly review and assess partnership performances, suggesting improvements or changes as necessary.
Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at partner organizations, ensuring open communication and mutual understanding.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including operations, operations support, and functional departments, as well as the other business units to leverage partnerships for maximum benefit.
Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks associated with partnerships and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Contract Oversight: Understand the intricacies of partnership contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance and managing renewals or renegotiations.
Market Trends: Stay updated with the latest industry trends to anticipate shifts that might affect current or future partnerships.

Reach and relevance: Support reach and relevance efforts to raise Suffolk’s profile as a technology leader within the industry
Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with technology partners, industry peers, and internal teams to gather insights and ensure alignment.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in technology strategy methodologies and tools.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
7 to 10 years of experience in strategy consulting, technology strategy, strategic partnerships, or a related role in the technology sector.
Solid understanding of both current and emerging technologies and their potential business applications.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical strategies to a diverse audience, from technical teams to C-suite executives, incl. proficiency in synthesis, storyline development, and presentation
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience presenting to senior executive audiences.
Proven experience in technology research and strategic planning
Proven track record of establishing, growing, and managing successful technology partnerships.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Excellent collaboration skills.
Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
Experience in AI preferred but not required
Experience in construction, architecture, engineering or related industry preferred but not required.
