Aperio Talent Solutions is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization to find a Senior Cost Analyst who enjoys digging beyond the numbers to understand what drives product cost.
This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Operations, and Engineering. You’ll have visibility into the manufacturing process and help the organization better understand product costs, inventory activity, profitability, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate has hands-on cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment and is comfortable digging into the details behind materials, labor, overhead, inventory, and product-level profitability.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Analyze manufacturing and product costs, including materials, labor, overhead, and other key cost drivers.
• Partner with Engineering, Production, and Finance teams to understand product structures, manufacturing processes, and opportunities to improve cost visibility.
• Evaluate product and project profitability and investigate cost variances throughout the production lifecycle.
• Review inventory activity and ensure transactions are accurately reflected within the ERP system.
• Research discrepancies, identify root causes, and coordinate necessary corrections to maintain accurate financial and operational data.
• Support inventory valuation, reconciliation, and control activities.
• Build and maintain cost models, reporting tools, and dashboards that provide leadership with meaningful insights for decision-making.
• Analyze trends in material usage, production costs, and operational performance to identify areas requiring further attention.
• Help improve costing processes, reporting accuracy, and overall visibility into manufacturing performance.
What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant cost accounting, cost analysis, or manufacturing finance experience.
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Experience with inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliations, and transaction review.
• Ability to understand how individual components and production activities contribute to the total cost of a finished product.
• Experience working with ERP systems and analyzing transactional data.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; experience developing cost models or dashboards is a plus.
• Comfortable partnering with teams outside of Finance, particularly Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Production.
Who Will Do Well in This Role
You’re naturally curious about what is happening behind the numbers. When a cost changes or an inventory balance doesn’t look right, you want to understand why.
You’re equally comfortable working through financial data and talking with the people responsible for designing, purchasing, and building the product.
Most importantly, you understand that good cost analysis isn’t simply about reporting what happened—it’s about giving the business better information to make its next decision.
