Job Description - Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Eaton\u2019s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at our Los Angeles, California facility! With almost 300 employees, the Los Angeles facility designs and manufactures quality valves, regulators, and other fluid controls used mostly by the Aerospace Industry\n\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $99000 - $145000 a year. \n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThis role will provide technical support for application development and sustaining production engineering of components and/or systems with emphasis on hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical products. To assist manufacturing, manufacturing engineers, focus factory personnel, project lead engineers, and/or Operations management in determination of work scope, tasks, and budgets. This person will provide methods of cost reduction for production and production-related activities. \n\nIn this function you will:\n\n * Apply technical skills for performance and production problem resolution of Hydraulic , pneumatic and electro-mechanical products and related components with relatively little guidance.\n * Focus on cost reduction initiatives\n * Create standards for similar products\n * Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and utilize Six Sigma methodologies to develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes in order to increase productivity, reduce variation, and eliminate waste.\n * Utilize technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to product non-conformance and performance test failures for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical products. Leverage leads within the team.\n * Serve as a technical contact with internal and external customers, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, product support, material, and suppliers insuring their satisfaction.\n * Implement performance, cost, quality and consistency improvements in products and process during and after their design phase.\n * Lead root cause and correction action for manufacturing issues by utilizing problem solving tools such as 8D analysis and PFMEA\u2019s. Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis\n * Create new and revise existing manufacturing process plans to accomplish manufacturing with the least amount of waste and best quality possible.\n * Develop technical expertise on hydraulic and pneumatic products with emphasis on producibility and first time pass.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution\n * Minimum 3 years\u2019 experience with manufacturing activities of products and components in a manufacturing environment.\n * Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.\n * This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.\n * No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area will be considered for this position\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Aerospace experience \n * Hydraulic experience \n * Mechanical electrical product experience\n * Experience with production assembly and test of products\n * Industry 4.0 implementation\n * Experience in low volume / high mix product \n\n\n\n## Position Criteria:\n\n * Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques.\n * Familiarity/experience with continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology. \n * Good technical writing and presentation skills.\n * Good verbal and communication skills.\n * Proficiency with computer-based methods and tools.\n * Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and methods\n * Ability to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication.\n * Ability to logically solve problems and to keep projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.\n * Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering, a plus.\n * Experience in cross-functional teaming, a plus\n * Working knowledge of ISO-9001 and/or AS9100\n * Ability to work on a cross-functional team to execute projects and ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.\n * Be prepared to work some extended hours, when necessary, to complete a task.\n * Be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate support of Eaton lean and continuous improvement principles; teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity.\n\n\n\n#LI-CD1\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
