TreadStone Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced candidate for a full time position of Senior Material Scientist to lead the technology development, production scale-up and commercialization of the technology for electrical vehicle and renewable energy industry.
The Senior Material Scientist will lead the team of scientists to design, build, and validate equipment for novel coating technology for electrochemical devices. A “can do” and “hand on” attitude, and an ability to manage multiple priorities and objectives are critical.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability, will thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting, be self-motivated, and have an interest in disruptive, cutting-edge technology development.
Primary Responsibility
- Lead the technology develop team in metal plate coating technology for fuel cell and battery applications.
- Collaborate with the team partners and clients to understand the application requirements and develop work plans to meet their requirements.
- Plan and execute research and take initiative for the completion of important project tasks.
- Design experiment fixtures and apparatus and establish discipline in experimental planning, execution, interpretation, and reporting of results.
- Develop paint/slurry formulation, its property characterization and coating quality inspection methods. Determine the causes of coating failure and develop mitigations to prevent failure.
- Characterization of the electrochemical properties of the coating in fuel cell and battery operation conditions.
- Contribute to building the company’s intellectual property portfolio of patents and trade secrets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial experience in product development
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal, and cross cultural) and Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to a cross-functional team.
- A MS or Ph.D. in electrochemistry, material engineering or chemical engineering.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to design, assemble and trouble-shoot electrochemical experiment apparatus and testing systems.
- Experience in fuel cell and battery technology is desired.
- Experience in electrical control circuit design and data acquisition is a plus.
- Self-motivated, possesses strong team work orientation.
- Be able to work in multi-task situations and be flexible to the fast-paced, technical start-up company environment.
