Senior Mechanical Estimator Mechanical & Plumbing Construction

About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This position supports Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid opportunities and works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimating process.

Key Responsibilities

·        Prepare complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects exceeding $10 million.

·        Develop estimates for Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid projects.

·        Produce accurate estimates from schematic design documents.

·        Prepare comparative estimates based on multiple design alternatives.

·        Develop subcontractor scopes, negotiate pricing, and issue subcontracts.

·        Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing while negotiating buyout costs.

·        Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.

·        Perform material takeoffs, prepare purchase orders, and support project controls.

·        Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders throughout the estimating process.

·        Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators.

Required Qualifications

·        Extensive experience estimating Mechanical Piping, Plumbing, and Heavy Construction projects.

·        Proven success in a Hard Bid estimating environment.

·        Experience preparing complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects valued at $10 million or more.

·        Strong understanding of construction contracts, front-end specifications, and project documentation.

·        Experience negotiating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.

·        Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.

·        Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

·        HVAC ductwork estimating experience is preferred but not required.

·        Willingness to relocate for project assignments, if necessary.
