Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Medical Director to join our Clinical Care Team

About the role

You will spearhead the development of the Clinical Care Team (CCT) and Virtual Care Program's clinical strategy to enhance healthcare quality while managing costs. Responsibilities include analyzing healthcare data to assess financial impacts, collaborating with clinical leaders, and designing innovative care models. As a key liaison between various stakeholders, you'll provide expertise on clinical initiatives and drive improvements in healthcare outcomes and cost management.

You will report to the Senior Vice President, Clinical Care Teams & Virtual Care.

Work Location:

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office ( in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Ave), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Otherwise, this is a remote / work-from-home role.

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role is: $280,800 - $368,550 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and align overall Clinical Strategy across service lines with OHI mission and vision.
  • Design and optimize workflows for care team members, ensuring licensure consistency.
  • Ensure access to appropriate clinical services for all patients.
  • Optimize service line scope, patient routing, and service offerings in collaboration with clinical, operational, and tech partners.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, economic trends, and healthcare policies to inform decision-making.
  • Provide oversight for the direction and evolution of the quality and safety program.
  • Oversee quality processes across service lines to ensure high-quality clinical care.
  • Support performance management planning and provide feedback for performance improvement opportunities.
  • Drive Population Level Quality Outcomes for patients and populations to deliver Comprehensive and Cost-Effective care.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve healthcare cost management and provide data-driven recommendations for financial sustainability.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Licensure:

  • MD or DO with a current unrestricted license to practice medicine is required
  • Must maintain necessary credentials to retain the position, including maintaining active board certification
  • Willing and able to obtain additional state licensure (with Oscar's support)

Experience:

12+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, including:

  • 5+ years of clinical practice and board certified in one of the following fields: internal medicine, family medicine, general surgery, emergency medicine (other fields will be considered)
  • 7+ years experience leading people and teams
  • 5+ years experience with clinical operations/clinical strategy
Bonus Points

Licensure:

  • Licensure in multiple Oscar states
  • Masters degree or advanced certificate

Experience:

  • Experience with conducting quality-of-care investigations and peer reviews and developing performance improvement plans.

Pay Transparency:

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
