About the Role

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Senior Medical Editor to join our team. The Senior Medical Editor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the scientific accuracy, clinical integrity, regulatory compliance, and editorial quality of all educational materials developed for our pharmaceutical clients.

Working closely with Medical Writers, Account Teams, Art Directors, and Regulatory Ops, you will be the guardian of editorial excellence, meticulously reviewing content from initiation through final output. This role requires digital editing skills and proficiency in Microsft office and Ziflow, and an understanding of medical terminology, therapeutic areas, regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, PhRMA), and pharmaceutical marketing best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Perform comprehensive edits, proofreads, and quality control checks on a wide range of educational materials, including slide decks edited live in PowerPoint.

  • Ensure impeccable grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and adherence to house style guides, client-specific style guides, and the AMA Manual of Style.

  • Review for clarity, conciseness, consistency, flow, and appropriate tone/voice for target audiences

  • Fact-check all medical and scientific claims against primary source documents (e.g., clinical trial reports, journal articles, prescribing information, internal data).

  • Identify and resolve any inconsistencies, ambiguities, or potential misrepresentations in content.

  • Verify the accuracy and proper formatting of all references, ensuring claims are appropriately linked to source documents.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Medical Writers, Art Directors, Account Managers, Project Managers, and Regulatory Affairs

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively regarding project status, potential issues, and solutions.

What You'll Need

  • 5-7+ years of dedicated medical editing experience, with a significant portion gained within a pharmaceutical advertising agency, medical communications agency, or pharmaceutical company.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat (for PDF annotation).

How We’ll Support You

Ogilvy celebrates its people. Fully. Enthusiastically. Unhesitatingly. We’ll empower you with the tools you’ll need to succeed. We’ll give you the autonomy to seek out new paths and better ways of doing things. We’ll support you with colleagues who are experts in their disciplines, drawn from across the Ogilvy network. And we’ll provide opportunities for you to do work of which you’ll be proud, with people you’ll be proud to call your teammates.
