Lead MEP Project Engineer (HVAC & Building Systems)
Location: Olathe, Kansas
Compensation: $120,000 - $155,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus
Travel: Approximately 20-30% regional travel throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska

We're seeking an experienced Lead MEP Project Engineer to take ownership of complex facility modernization, HVAC, controls, and energy infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with clients, and guiding projects from concept through implementation.

What You'll Do
As the technical lead on project development efforts, you will help clients identify, evaluate, and implement building system improvements that reduce operating costs and improve facility performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead facility assessments and site investigations
- Analyze utility consumption and building performance
- Develop HVAC, controls, lighting, water conservation, and building envelope solutions
- Perform engineering calculations and energy savings analyses
- Develop project budgets and cost estimates
- Prepare technical audits, reports, and proposal documentation
- Manage project development schedules and deliverables
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Review technical submittals and construction documents
- Conduct field inspections during project implementation
- Support utility rebate and incentive applications
- Assist project management teams during procurement and construction activities
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout project development and execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Science
- 10+ years of professional engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building mechanical infrastructure
- Experience with controls integration and building automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Ability to travel throughout the region as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Commissioning or Retro-Commissioning experience
- Measurement & Verification (M&V) experience
- Energy analysis experience
- Utility rebate and incentive program experience
- Design-build project experience
- Microsoft Project experience
- Energy Performance Contracting experience
