What you’ll do

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Messaging Engineer to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust messaging solutions that support our business operations. This role requires a deep understanding of messaging systems, particularly Kafka, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure seamless integration and performance. Specifically, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable messaging solutions using Kafka


• Manage Kafka clusters, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting


• Collaborate with software development teams to integrate Kafka messaging solutions into applications


• Optimize Kafka performance and ensure high availability and reliability of messaging systems


• Implement security best practices for Kafka, including encryption and access control


• Develop and maintain documentation for Kafka systems and related processes


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers


• Stay updated with the latest developments in messaging technologies and propose improvements


• Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for production systems as needed

What’s REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field


• Minimum of 10 years of experience in messaging systems, with at least 5 years focused on Kafka


• Strong understanding of distributed systems and data streaming concepts


• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala


• Experience with Kafka ecosystem components like Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and KSQL


• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)


• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure


• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

The annual base salary range for this role is $250,000-$300,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
