About the job:
We are looking for someone experienced in metrology software, equipment, and applications with demonstrated knowledge of products, processes and metrology requirements. The ideal candidate will create, maintain, and utilize metrology programs, software tools, accessories, fixtures and equipment to support manufacturing, design, development and troubleshooting of new and existing products.
What you will do:
Support metrology group objectives of maintenance, calibration, verification and procurement of metrology equipment and software
Provide support for the characterization of existing equipment and the acquisition of new equipment
Assist in the development of monitoring systems to ensure equipment and the acquisition of new equipment
Support the development of fixtures and software tools that integrate with equipment and improve efficiencies
Develop ferrule and mold metrology programs, testing, training and support
Maintain metrology program documentation and control
Support database, reporting and metrology requirements for connectors
Aid in recommendations to connector metrology group in Texas
Support quality department with issue troubleshooting related to metrology
Trade secrets, development, documentation and protection
Recommend course of events such as additional testing and updates top specifications to support product enhancement
Document test results and perform statistical analysis towards the preparation of charts, graphs and reports as directed, using numerous applications such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, Matlab, Powerpoint and others
Maintain metrology laboratory rooms, tools, equipment and artifacts in a clean and organized manner
The equipment you will use:
Multi-sensor high accuracy CMM's and software
Confocal Microscopes and op/analysis software
CT scanning machines and software
SEM/AFM equipment
Microscopes and video cameras
Contact gauging equipment, including but not limited to pin gauges, calipers and micrometers
Fiber Optic connector interferometer
Requirements
What we'd like you to have:
Bachelors of Science in Metrology or Engineering discipline
Excellent communication, planning and independent problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to plan tests and analyze and interpret results
Strong understanding of mechanical principals and design
Advanced knowledge of data analysis software tools and techniques
Optical, image processing, and/or precision machine designing experience would be ideal
