Senior Mortgage Loan Auditor

This position is responsible for reviewing closed residential mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor, company, and regulatory guidelines. This role plays a critical part in mitigating risk and maintaining the integrity of the mortgage lending process ensuring all documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with Secondary Market investors, GSE, regulatory and compliance standards. The role is pivotal in making loan delivery, salability and resolving post-closing issues across internal and external teams.

The Post Closing Auditor reports directly to the Post Closing Transaction Manager. This position requires excellent organizational skills and strong analytical analysis. This candidate should work well in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task and is detailed orientated

Key Responsibilities: 

• Audit closed Residential mortgage loan files for compliance with State, Federal regulatory requirements.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to management and relevant departments.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Verify accuracy of loan documentation including disclosures, title policies, appraisals, and closing statements.
• Identify and resolve errors requiring corrections within established timeframes
• Submit finalized loan documents to investors within set deadlines
• Monitor and resolve post-closing discrepancies and exceptions
• Maintain loan records in internal systems and ensure compliance
• Monitor pipeline for expiration and timely purchases
• Reconciliation: Reconcile investor purchase advices to ensure accuracy of income. Notify Associated departments of corrections needed for necessary LOS data elements.
• Collaborate with underwriters, closing agents, and investors to solve issues
• Stay updated on industry regulations and standards
• Timely remittance of Mortgage Insurance payments for FHA/VA/USDA and Conventional loans. Must meet all deadline requirements. 

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Residential Mortgage Retail or Correspondent mortgage post-closing auditing and insuring for all mortgage loan product types, such as FHA/VA/USDA, Conventional, second liens and Non-QM. 
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Residential Mortgage Insuring requirements for all applicable loan types. 
• Deep knowledge of mortgage documentation, GSE and investor requirements
• Proficient in systems such as Encompass, Microsoft Office and Excel
• High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities 
• Strong multitasking and verbal/written communication skills 
• Excellent interpersonal skills.  
• Strong understanding of mortgage products and regulator requirements.  High sense of urgency and deadline driven. 
• Able and willing to work on-site at 1776 Peachtree Street NW Atlanta, GA 30309.  Working remotely is not an option for this position.
