We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to support an upcoming federal program focused on enterprise infrastructure modernization, Zero Trust implementation, cybersecurity, and network resiliency. *This is for a proposal opportunity*
Position Overview
The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure supporting mission-critical federal operations. This role requires deep expertise in Cisco networking technologies, network security, Zero Trust architecture, and federal IT environments.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise network architectures
Lead network modernization and infrastructure improvement initiatives
Design and support core, distribution, and edge network environments
Configure and maintain routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP services
Implement Zero Trust principles including segmentation, micro-segmentation, and least-privilege access controls
Integrate network telemetry and monitoring capabilities with SIEM and security platforms
Lead vulnerability remediation and network hardening activities
Support incident response efforts through network analysis, containment, and remediation
Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, SOPs, and technical documentation
Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and infrastructure teams to improve security posture and operational resilience
Support lifecycle management, upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
Expert-level experience with Cisco networking technologies
Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and network architecture
Experience designing and supporting highly available enterprise networks
Experience implementing network security controls and best practices
Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks and federal security requirements
Experience supporting incident response and vulnerability management activities
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or equivalent certification
Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE, or similar technologies
Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture
Experience supporting federal government environments
Familiarity with RMF, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 requirements
Experience integrating network telemetry with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Sentinel, or similar solutions
Experience with SD-WAN technologies
Clearance
Public Trust (Tier 2) clearance
Location
Hybrid work environment with occasional onsite support as required.
