The Senior Permitting Coordinator supports the development, management, and execution of environmental permitting strategies for the Donlin Gold Project, one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits. Reporting to the Permitting and Environmental Manager, this role coordinates permitting activities across federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks to support project development from feasibility through construction readiness.
The position requires strong coordination with technical teams, regulators, consultants, and internal project stakeholders to ensure that permit applications, studies, and compliance requirements are delivered on schedule and aligned with project objectives. The role also supports permitting coordination for major project infrastructure, including the natural gas pipeline that will supply energy to the project site.
Key Responsibilities
Permitting Coordination
Coordinate the preparation, submission, and tracking of federal, state, and local permit applications required for project development.
Support the development of permitting strategies and schedules aligned with project milestones.
Track permit status, regulatory commitments, and compliance requirements across multiple agencies.
Gas Pipeline Permitting Support
Assist in coordinating permitting activities associated with the project’s natural gas pipeline infrastructure.
Support preparation and review of regulatory applications related to pipeline routing, right-of-way approvals, water crossings, and associated infrastructure.
Coordinate with engineering teams, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure pipeline design and construction plans meet applicable federal and state permitting requirements.
Track regulatory approvals and compliance commitments related to pipeline development.
Regulatory Engagement
Serve as a point of coordination with regulatory agencies, including federal and Alaska state regulators.
Assist with agency meetings, technical reviews, and regulatory correspondence.
Support responses to agency information requests and permit review comments.
Technical Documentation
Coordinate preparation of permit applications, environmental studies, and technical documentation with internal subject matter experts and external consultants.
Ensure permitting documentation meets regulatory requirements and project standards.
Maintain organized records of permit submissions, approvals, and regulatory communications.
Project Integration
Work closely with engineering, environmental, and project development teams to ensure project designs align with permitting requirements.
Track regulatory commitments and integrate them into project planning and design.
Stakeholder Coordination
Support coordination with Alaska Native regional and village corporations, local stakeholders, and project partners regarding permitting and environmental matters.
Assist with the preparation of materials for public meetings, participate in and present at public meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Biology, or a related discipline.Minimum 8–10 years of experience in environmental permitting, regulatory coordination, or environmental compliance.
Experience working on large infrastructure, mining, pipeline, or natural resource development projects.
Strong familiarity with Alaska state and federal permitting frameworks.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting permitting for linear infrastructure such as pipelines, roads, or transmission corridors.
Familiarity with NEPA and major project permitting processes.

Ability to manage multiple permit processes and regulatory deadlines simultaneously.
Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
Ability to translate technical environmental information into regulatory documentation.

Working Conditions
Office-based in Anchorage with periodic travel to the Donlin project site and regional communities in the Yukon–Kuskokwim region.
Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams supporting feasibility, permitting, and future construction phases.
