Senior Platform Engineer - Data Platform

Summary

We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to build and scale a next-generation AI-ready data platform within our Enterprise Data Storage Engineering team. You'll work on large-scale, distributed cloud systems that power data and AI workloads across the enterprise-designing high-performance storage platforms, enabling analytics, and supporting intelligent applications. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building software-driven platforms, not just managing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, distributed data platforms on AWS supporting AI and analytics workloads
• Develop and optimize modern data storage systems using technologies like Apache Iceberg and Databricks
• Build cloud-native platform services and applications, primarily in Python
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows using GitHub
• Operate and improve production cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across data platforms, infrastructure, and applications
• Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions to improve scalability and efficiency
• Optimize storage performance, data access patterns, and system throughput
• Contribute to disaster recovery, backup strategies, and system resilience
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, configuration best practices, and operational processes
• Partner with engineering and product teams to deliver quarterly platform capabilities and roadmap initiatives
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team environment
• Work with modern AI-assisted development tools including Copilot and Claude Code

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years related work experience in platform, cloud or infrastructure engineering
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS
• Experience building or supporting data storage platforms (Apache Iceberg, Databricks, or similar)
• Strong programming skills in Python; Java is a plus
• Experience building software applications and platform services
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub workflows
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable data storage environments
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system production issues
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
