Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing various engineering tasks related to production operations. This includes conducting engineering studies, assessing the feasibility and economic impact of proposed projects, and addressing both existing and potential production issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct production surveillance, including periodic well reviews and reports aimed at optimizing production operations.
Identify opportunities to enhance production from active wells, bring idle wells back into operation, repair damaged wells, or decommission wells as necessary. Prepare proposals, coordinate with vendors and field operations, and oversee execution.
Identify the equipment and procedures required redevelopment projects and process improvements.
Develop plans for remedial maintenance and stimulation workovers (e.g., acid treatments, sand control, well repairs).
Optimize and monitor artificial lift and waterflood operations.
Analyze well performance to maximize production efficiency.
Plan and prepare stimulation workovers.
Monitor lease operating expenditures to ensure optimal results relative to costs.
Work with Safety, Health, and Environmental staff, as well as regulatory agencies, to conduct operations safely and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
Requirements
Position Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering is required.
Master's degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and Professional Engineering (PE) registration are encouraged.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in production or reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Oilfield Manager software.
Experience with waterflood operations is preferred.
Knowledge of stimulation, acid treatments, and sand control techniques.
Familiarity with artificial lift methods.
Ability to independently handle complex tasks and assignments.
Must manage programs and services within budget, ensure timely submission of deliverables, and comply with governmental and contractual requirements.
Requires minimal supervision; works independently but is also effective in a team environment.
General understanding of company safety policies.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires strong visual and manual dexterity, as well as the ability to move safely across oilfields, along proposed improvement routes, and in areas potentially affected by operations. Mobility in navigating irregular terrain is essential. Visual acuity is also required to drive safely at night and in varying weather conditions.
The role involves typical hazards associated with upstream oil and gas production sites. The incumbent will primarily perform light to sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 25 pounds of force or regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects. Tasks may require reaching overhead, stooping, bending, and twisting. Other physical demands include the use of fingers to grasp or manipulate objects and work tools, manual dexterity, and the ability to see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Prolonged standing may also be required.
The incumbent must be able to drive a vehicle, typically a car or light truck, and frequently enter and exit the vehicle. Regular walking on uneven ground, navigating around obstacles such as pipes or low rails, and using stairs are also part of the job requirements.
