Senior Production Supervisor

Job Description - Senior Production Supervisor

Senior Production Supervisor

Location: East of Des Moines, Iowa
Salary: $80,000–$105,000 annually
1st & 2nd Shift Openings
Full-Time | Direct Hire | Manufacturing

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Senior Production Supervisors for a major manufacturer of large, highly engineered products in Central Iowa.

This is a long-established operation with solid financial performance, a strong production backlog, and increasing sales demand. The facility is currently ramping production, creating opportunities on both 1st and 2nd shift for manufacturing leaders ready for greater visibility and responsibility.

This is a hands-on production leadership position in a large, non-union manufacturing environment involving welding, fabrication, assembly, and industrial finishing.

You'll be expected to spend time where manufacturing happens—working directly with frontline leaders and employees, solving problems, removing obstacles, developing people, and keeping production moving safely and effectively.

What You'll Do

  • Lead production employees in a large-scale manufacturing environment.
  • Provide hands-on leadership across welding, fabrication, assembly, finishing, and related production activities.
  • Drive daily performance in safety, quality, production schedule, productivity, and labor utilization.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability while maintaining employee engagement.
  • Coach, develop, and support frontline employees and emerging leaders.
  • Monitor production performance and respond quickly to schedule, staffing, quality, or workflow issues.
  • Work closely with other manufacturing leaders and support functions to remove production constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor.
  • Support a growing operation with a substantial backlog and increasing production requirements.
  • Provide leadership during overtime and weekend production as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Experience directly leading hourly production employees.
  • Progressive growth in manufacturing leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, productivity, and employee performance.
  • Strong floor-level leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop employees, establish accountability, and achieve results through people.
  • Comfortable working in a large, demanding manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work required overtime and weekend coverage.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Experience in welding, metal fabrication, assembly, industrial finishing, heavy manufacturing, large engineered products, or similarly complex manufacturing operations is particularly desirable.

A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Demonstrated manufacturing leadership experience is more important than a specific degree.

Schedule

There are openings on both:

  • 1st Shift
  • 2nd Shift

Candidates should indicate which shift or shifts they are willing to consider.

Due to the current production backlog and increasing sales demand, overtime is required for the foreseeable future, including weekend coverage when necessary. Candidates should be comfortable with this expectation before pursuing the opportunity.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to step into a high-visibility manufacturing leadership role with a long-established company and strong production demand.

The operation offers:

  • A substantial, complex manufacturing environment.
  • Strong backlog and long-term production demand.
  • Increasing sales and production requirements.
  • Direct visibility with manufacturing leadership.
  • Opportunities to take on greater responsibility and continue developing your career.
  • A hands-on environment where effective production leadership can make an immediate impact.

If you've built a strong foundation as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Weld Supervisor, Fabrication Supervisor, Assembly Supervisor, or similar frontline manufacturing leader and are ready for a larger operation with greater responsibility, we'd like to hear from you.

$80,000–$105,000 annually. Full-time, direct-hire opportunity with an established and financially strong manufacturer. Openings are available on both 1st and 2nd shift. Benefits package included. Overtime is required for the foreseeable future, including weekend coverage as production demands require.
