This work requires doctoral-level expertise to ensure scientific credibility, deep interdisciplinary fluency, and the ability to operate as a peer among medical and academic professionals.
Because the role develops advanced curriculum for physicians and health systems, leads medical advisory structures, and translates complex scientific evidence for national audiences, the Senior Director must possess the research training, scholarly authority, and systems-level analytical skills associated with a PhD. This role directly represents Rodale Institute within academic medicine, public health, and healthcare leadership environments where doctoral qualifications are expected and essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead educational strategy for all regenerative health initiatives, ensuring research accuracy, evidence translation, and alignment with healthcare norms and standards.

  • Establish and manage a Medical Advisory Committee, recruiting nationally recognized physicians and facilitating discussions requiring advanced programmatic literacy and healthcare systems knowledge.

  • Make research-based recommendations on the design of revenue-based programs, with actionable steps to launch:

    • Farm to Institution Leadership programs
    • Farming as Medicine Certificate Program
    • CEU/CME-eligible workshops
    • Regenerative Leadership Program

  • Explore development of higher education offerings, including medical student rotations and undergraduate courses, requiring a deep understanding of academic rigor and assessment.

  • Serve as a doctoral-level content expert in regenerative health, chronic disease systems, food systems science, and behavior change.

  • Build partnerships with medical schools, health systems, and community organizations.

  • Represent Rodale Institute as a Farming as Medicine authority at national conferences, academic events, and health system presentations.

  • Co-lead program monetization models, grant development, research-informed programming, and outcome evaluation.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD REQUIRED) in public health, nutrition science, health communication, behavioral science, environmental health, or closely aligned field.

  • 7+ years of experience in health professions education, public health programming, research translation, or healthcare systems engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians, academic faculty, researchers, and health system leaders as an equal professional colleague.

  • Proven experience designing graduate-level or professional-level curriculum rooted in evidence-based practice.

  • Advanced skills in synthesizing scientific literature, presenting complex information to diverse audiences, and maintaining scientific integrity.

  • Ability to execute hybrid funding structures, including grant writing/reporting, philanthropic and revenue models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in CME/CEU curriculum development or accreditation processes.

  • Experience collaborating with medical schools, clinical faculty, or professional societies.

  • Training in systems thinking, leadership education, or community-engaged health initiatives.

Core Competencies

  • Advanced research literacy and evidence-based communication

  • Strategic leadership within health and/or academic systems

  • High-level curriculum design and educational evaluation

  • Relationship building across medical, academic, corporate and community sectors

  • Ability to navigate complexity and lead interdisciplinary initiatives with an entrepreneurial, growth mindset

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religious creed, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, sexual identity or handicap.
