Are you an engineer who enjoys leading projects from concept through startup?
We're seeking an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to play a key leadership role in the development and execution of a large-scale food waste-to-energy facility. This position functions similarly to a Project Manager within a construction organization and is responsible for driving project success across engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
Based in Olathe, Kansas, you'll work closely with project stakeholders, engineering consultants, contractors, and leadership teams to help deliver an innovative renewable energy facility that transforms food waste into usable energy.

What You'll Do
Lead project execution activities from development through commissioning and startup
Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts
Manage engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and project stakeholders
Review mechanical and electrical system designs for quality, constructability, reliability, and performance
Support project budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and risk management
Monitor project progress and drive key milestones to successful completion
Evaluate equipment selections, technical specifications, and design changes
Provide technical oversight during construction activities and field execution
Identify and resolve project challenges related to engineering, construction, and operations
Support startup planning and operational readiness activities
Ensure project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost are achieved
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
10+ years of experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or process facility projects
Experience leading projects through engineering, construction, and startup phases
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contractors
Working knowledge of project schedules, budgets, and project controls
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to travel to Burley, Idaho as project needs require
Preferred Qualifications
Food processing facility experience
Pharmaceutical facility experience
Renewable energy experience
Waste-to-energy experience
Power generation experience
Wastewater treatment experience
EPC project experience
Commissioning and startup experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license
PMP certification

This individual will bridge the gap between engineering and construction while ensuring technical, operational, and project objectives are achieved.
