Job Description - Senior Quality Analyst

David creates tools to increase muscle and decrease fat. Our first product is a protein bar. More broadly, David is a platform to develop high-protein, low-calorie, blood-sugar-friendly foods that are craveable.

This is a compelling opportunity to be a part of an exciting new food brand as we operate within a critical growth stage. David is led by CEO Peter Rahal, the Cofounder and Former CEO of RXBAR. We have strong aspirations to become the most popular high-protein bar in North America and beyond.

Role and Responsibilities:

We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, systems-minded Senior Quality Analyst to support David’s Quality team. The Quality Analyst will be responsible for supporting the company’s quality management system, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. This role will also lead or participate in cross-functional projects, manage technical documentation, and collaborate with R&D and commercialization teams to ensure smooth transitions from product development through production.

Quality Management & Compliance:

  • Maintain and update quality procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and work instructions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
  • Manage, review, and trend non-conformance data, customer complaints, and corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct audits at co-manufacturers and suppliers as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and execute (or project-manage with R&D) continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Use root cause analysis tools to investigate quality issues and develop preventive measures.
  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators to monitor the effectiveness of improvement programs.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and track quality-related projects across departments, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Support TraceGains processes, including document control, specification approvals, and data accuracy in quality systems.

R&D Collaboration:

  • Partner with R&D to ensure quality requirements are incorporated into product design, raw material selection, and formulation.
  • Review and approve specifications, nutritional data, and labeling requirements.
  • Support laboratory testing for new product trials and validation activities.

Commercialization & Stage Gate Support:

  • Work closely with the commercialization team during the Stage Gate process to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory considerations are integrated at every phase.
  • Participate in product trials, line validations, and first production runs to ensure successful product launches.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate, organized records of specifications, test results, and approvals.
  • Provide timely reports to management on quality performance, trends, and project status.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in food safety, regulatory compliance, or supplier qualification in the food, beverage, or supplement industry.
  • Familiarity with food safety and regulatory frameworks (FDA, USDA, CFIA, FSMA, HACCP, SQF, Prop 65).
  • PCQI / HACCP certification.
  • (Preferred) Experience working with documentation and regulatory tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High ownership & attention to detail – you take initiative, follow through, and execute with precision.
  • Intellectual curiosity – you’re eager to learn, solve problems, and improve systems.
  • Low ego, high drive – humble, self-aware, and motivated by the mission.
  • Mission alignment – excited to help build an early-stage CPG company focused on tools to increase muscle and decrease fat.
  • This is a full-time, in-office role based in New York City. We work onsite five days a week — when the culture fits, it is fun to be in the office together.
  • Occasional travel required to support trials and audits.
  • Salary: $100,000-$120,000 per year, inclusive of cash bonus based on attainment of company targets.
  • Company equity opportunity on top of cash compensation.
  • 100% covered Health, Vision, Dental Insurance.
  • 401(k) with 4% match.
  • Additional perks, such as covered gym expenses.
  • Substantial and required PTO.
