Key Responsibilities
Lead reliability initiatives for critical electrical infrastructure including switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, transfer systems, grounding, and distribution equipment.
Review and influence commissioning, startup, and turnover quality to ensure electrical systems are delivered in a reliable, supportable, and operationally sound condition.
Design and improve maintenance strategies that reduce downtime, improve operability, and optimize lifecycle cost.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action development for major or recurring electrical failures.
Analyze electrical maintenance data, operational trends, and failure patterns to identify systemic issues and prioritize corrective actions.
Develop risk mitigation plans for power-system vulnerabilities, latent failure modes, obsolescence, and supportability concerns.
Provide senior technical support to Site Operations during critical electrical events and abnormal operating conditions.
Evaluate construction submittals, design changes, and modified installations from a reliability and maintainability perspective.
Support RAM analysis, lifecycle cost analysis, spare parts strategy, end-of-life planning, and site response planning for critical power systems.
Mentor less experienced reliability engineers and guide technical problem solving across the electrical specialty.
Ideal Candidate Profile
6–10 years of experience in critical power systems, electrical reliability, commissioning, maintenance engineering, or uptime-critical infrastructure environments.
Deep familiarity with mission-critical electrical arrangements, protection components, switchgear automation/control interfaces, onsite generation, and failure response actions.
Experience leading RCAs, maintenance optimization, and technical support in live electrical environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience also valued.
Skills and Competencies
Strong systems thinking and technical judgment for critical power infrastructure.
Strong analytical capability using testing data, maintenance history, and performance trends.
Ability to influence operational and design decisions without formal authority.
Strong communication and mentoring capability.
Ability to translate field issues into durable reliability improvements.
Preferred Skills / Certifications
Experience with mission-critical power infrastructure in data centers, utilities, or similarly high-availability environments.
Familiarity with EPMS analytics, testing programs, asset health analysis, and lifecycle planning.
SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, PE-track, NETA/NICET, or OEM electrical equipment training is a plus.
CMRP, CRE, or other reliability certification is a plus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
This role supports mission-critical sites and may require travel, site walks, field observations, and operational support in industrial environments. You must be able to work safely in active facilities, with or without reasonable accommodation. Source roles note hybrid/site engagement, travel up to 25%, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
