Senior Report Engineer (L3 Specialist)

Are you an experienced BI & Data Specialist looking for a long-term, high-impact role? We are seeking a Senior Report Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-level reporting solutions and BI dashboards.

Location: Hybrid – Albany, NY

Key Responsibilities

  Dashboard & Report Design: Lead the design, development, and performance optimization of complex enterprise reports and interactive dashboards using modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SSRS).

  Data & SQL Engineering: Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views across relational databases.

  
  


• 
  

  Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Business Analysts and key stakeholders to translate complex business needs into clear technical reporting specifications.

  
  


• 
  

  Data Quality & Integrity: Perform rigorous data validation and end-to-end testing to guarantee accuracy across all deliverables.

  
  


• 
  

  Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing code reviews, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior reporting team members.

  
  

Mandatory Qualifications  

• 
  

  7+ years of total experience working on complex IT/data projects, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role as a Specialist.

  
  


• 
  

  7+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence, reporting, or data development.

  
  


• 
  

  5+ years of advanced SQL development experience with enterprise relational databases (complex query writing, stored procedures/functions, performance tuning).

  
  

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

• 
  

  3+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience (PL/pgSQL functions, query plan analysis using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, and indexing strategies).

  
  


• 
  

  3+ years of experience working with AWS data services (Amazon RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, QuickSight, AWS Glue, Redshift).

  
  


• 
  

  3+ years of experience with enterprise ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, SSIS, or Talend).

  
  


• 
  

  1+ year of prior experience building reporting solutions within a public sector or government agency environment.

  
  


• 
  

  Professional BI Certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Certified Professional).
