A reputable oil and gas company in West Houston is looking for a trustworthy and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant to join their team.
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform closing processes related to revenue distribution and record journal entries and accruals as required.
• Record revenues for both operated and non-operated properties, make necessary allocations, and assist with tracking royalties on GLO and University Land properties.
• Utilize OGYS software to enter revenue data, including manual input and data uploads.
• Research and reconcile revenue-related general ledger accounts and analyze potential production vs. revenue discrepancies.
• Retrieve and reconcile electronic revenue data efficiently and accurately.
• Collaborate with other departments and liaise with external entities to secure needed data for accurate and timely revenue booking.
• Regularly perform analyses on actuals versus accruals to spot any anomalies or trends.
• Engage directly in projects as required by the company’s acquisitions and divestitures plan as directed by the Revenue Manager.
• Appropriately handle royalty and unclaimed property-related phone calls to secure necessary information or resolve issues.
• Conduct diligent prep work for the owners to be paid reports and analyze payments to owners to ensure the accuracy of financial documentation.
• Manage all deck related changes which include new deck setups, transfers, redistributions, etc.
• As required, assist the AP department with various duties like expense reports, check request, wires, manual payments, open invoices, JIB invoices, and wire payment reports.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong knowledge and experience utilizing OGYS software.
• Demonstrated ability in managing general ledger accounts and handling accounting allocations.
• Excellent customer service skills when addressing inquiries through phone calls.
• Strong analytical abilities, with a keen eye for identifying discrepancies in financial reports.
• Good knowledge of financial processing tools and procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; must be proactive and a team player.
• High level of mature judgment, ability to take initiative and make decisions.
This is a hybrid opportunity. Compensation is up to 100K plus bonus.
