We’re looking for a Senior Safety Consultant I to provide advanced expertise in transit safety, security, and project management. In this role, you’ll leverage your technical knowledge in safety compliance, hazard analysis, and accident investigations to ensure projects meet rigorous regulatory standards. You’ll also guide safety-related tasks, mentor junior team members, and serve as a trusted subject matter expert driving high-quality outcomes across critical transit initiatives.

Essential Functions
- Lead assigned safety and security tasks and ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery of project objectives.
- Conduct safety and hazard analyses, accident investigations, and risk assessments for transit systems.
- Provide expertise in OSHA compliance, safety certification, and transit safety management.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, training, and project controls.
- Prepare technical reports, certifications, and safety documentation for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineering teams to ensure project alignment with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior staff, providing leadership on task execution and technical approaches.
- Represent the company in meetings with clients, government agencies, and industry partners.
- All other duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of transit safety, security, and project management best practices.
- Proficiency in OSHA compliance, safety certification processes, and safety management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to create professional, accurate reports and presentations.
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities while maintaining detailed, organized records of tasks and deliverables.
- Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and influence stakeholders with professionalism and expertise.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and task tracking/project management software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program related to assigned tasks.
- Have a minimum of 10 years of demonstrable experience in the areas commensurate with
associated tasks.
- Of the 10 years of experience, have a minimum of 7 years of demonstrable experience in the areas of transit safety and security, transit project management, engineering, project controls management, safety and security certification, training, OSHA compliance, hazard analysis, accident investigations for public transit systems, or commensurate experience in their professional discipline.
- Two or more of the following credentials:
- Certified Safety and Security Director (WSO-CSSD) or Certified Safety and Security Specialist (WSO-CSS) recognized by the World Safety Organization Certification Board
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in DC, MD, or VA or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Engineer-in-Training or Engineering Intern recognized by one or more states.
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Safety Management Systems (SMS) Principles Certificate developed and presented by an agency of, or an entity commissioned by, the US Department of Transportation
- Transit Safety and Security Program (TSSP) Certificate for Bus or Rail issued by the Transportation Safety Institute, US Department of Transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in engineering, safety, project management, or related field.
- Prior leadership experience managing large-scale, federally funded, or transit infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring multidisciplinary safety teams in a consulting or client-facing environment.

Compensation
• $115 – $125 hourly, depending on experience, ability, and capability.
