Job Description - Senior Scientist, Advanced Imaging Research

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

Eikon is seeking a senior scientist to join its Advanced Imaging Research group, a multidisciplinary team of experimental and computational scientists focused on understanding and improving the capabilities of Eikon’s imaging platform. This person would execute experiments and interpret them by performing novel computational analysis and is ideal for a scientist who can combine deep analytical rigor with the practical understanding of executing high quality single molecule experiments. As a Senior Scientist, you will apply analytical methods to extract biological insight from your large-scale single molecule imaging datasets, while also partnering on experimental design, assay evaluation, and technology development. You will help determine how Eikon’s tools can be applied to new targets, new biological questions, and new technology areas that expand the impact of our platform in drug discovery applications.

About You

You are a scientifically curious scientist who enjoys using quantitative imaging and computational approaches to solve difficult biological problems. You are equally comfortable at the bench and at the command line, and you can navigate technical challenges across domains. You have a proven track record of building and thoughtfully applying new methods to gain deeper insight into a biological system, especially in imaging-based modalities. You are a strong communicator, comfortable engaging experts from other disciplines and working together to solve tough problems. You see the enduring value of bringing together scientific and engineering leaders to address grievous human illness.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with single molecule imaging data at an unprecedented scale, using protein motion to derive biological insights.

  • Become a champion of Eikon’s platform, leading technology development efforts to open new opportunities in drug discovery and development.

  • Collaboratively plan, design, conduct and analyze experiments with experts in oncology, neurobiology, machine learning, image processing, analytical modeling, chemistry, hardware engineering, and more.

  • Serve as a scientific resource to peers and collaborators by sharing best practices, supporting training, and helping others design interpretable experiments and analyses.

  • Act as a functional expert to project teams and clearly communicate results and next steps to lead the team through development and use of single molecule experiments.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent experience in biophysics, molecular biology, cell biology, or related field with 5+ years of post-graduate research experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative single molecule imaging techniques such as single particle tracking, STORM/PALM, or single molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization, or spatial genomics.

  • Experience with scientific Python and working with large, image-derived datasets.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, and communicate results of complex experiments that support collaborative work.

  • Experience in principled method and/or workflow development.

  • Previous drug discovery experience is strongly preferred.

At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:

  • 401k plan with company matching

  • Medical (premiums covered by Eikon at 95%), dental and vision insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%)

  • Mental health and wellness benefits

  • Weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns

  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies

  • Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies

  • Enhanced parental leave benefit

  • Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site

The expected salary range for this role is $143,000 to $156,750 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.

Eikon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment.
