Job Description - Senior Scientist, Computational Biology Kidney Disease


Description

The Computational Biologist will play a critical role in our kidney disease research program and will join our innovative Computational Innovation (CD department at Ridgefield, CT. This position involves the application of computational and bioinformatics techniques to identify and validate new therapeutic targets for kidney disease, with a strong emphasis on translating computational findings into biologically actionable hypotheses and experimental strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including biologists, and geneticists, to drive the discovery and development of novel treatments.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and implement computational models and algorithms to analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
• Identify and prioritize potential therapeutic targets for kidney disease through integrative data analysis, articulating clear biological rationales, mechanisms, and testable hypotheses.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to design and interpret validation studies.
• Utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to enhance target discovery processes.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in computational biology and kidney disease research.
• Prepare and present research findings to internal teams, external collaborators, and through publications and meeting presentations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or related fields.
• 2+ years of postdoctoral minimum with industry experience in discovery research preferred.
• Strong background in computational and statistical methods for biological data analysis, with demonstrated ability to interpret results in a biological and disease-relevant context.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or R using cluster and/or cloud infrastructure, together with data visualization frameworks (e.g., ggplot2, matplotlib, etc.).
• Experience with high-throughput data analysis and integration including single-cell and spatial RNA-Seq / proteomic data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.


 


Preferred Qualifications:


• Knowledge of kidney disease or cardio-renal metabolic disease and related pathways is highly desirable.
• Experience with machine learning, LLM integration, and other Al applications in biological research.
• Familiarity with drug discovery and development processes is strongly preferred.


 


Eligibility Requirements:


• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.
