Senior Software architect / backend engineer

Federato technologies is a venture-backed startup based in Menlo Park, CA looking to secure a full-stack data/architecture engineer. 

Our founding team has extensive experience in building, researching, and selling machine learning products and came together in search of a product that could leverage these skills for positive impact. Now, we’ve set out to build software that works to address the generation defining issue of economic inequality in the face of climate change.  We are running head first at the $150B+ coverage gap that faces the insurance industry as increasingly frequent and severe weather events challenge the status quo.

The problems we wrestle with every day are…

• Re-thinking the first principles of state of the art predictive and optimization mechanisms

• Doing so in a multi-cloud infrastructure environment with significant security constraints

• Enabling a lightweight, low-latency, and consumable UX despite the complexity

Federato technologies is a venture-backed startup based in Menlo Park, CA looking to secure a full-stack data/architecture engineer.  The role will report directly to the CTO and you will be the first non-founder engineering hire. You will be making fundamental development and architectural decisions each and every day and play a significant role in the company’s long term success.

• Demonstrated interest in engineering for impact

• 4+ years of industry experience in data integration, engineering, and system architecture

• Work experience delivering significant ML implementations, ideally in an enterprise setting

• Broad familiarity with:

  • The CNCF ecosystem (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) and major cloud vendors

  • CI/CD and ML Ops – model deployment, versioning, and monitoring

  • Core security and networking infrastructure in enterprise environments

  • Event backbone and job pool platforms (Kafka, etc)

• Willingness to get hands dirty across a broad variety of internal and client builds

Nice to haves:

• Undergraduate or Graduate work in a related field

• Familiarity with geospatial and remote sensing implementations

• Interest or familiarity in multi-cluster frameworks - Gloo, Istio, VMware Tanzu

• Interest or familiarity with Elixir and/or Erlang
