Puck Enterprises started with a family, a few acres in Manning, Iowa, and a habit of building better tools than the ones on the market. Since then we've grown into a family of manufacturing brands serving agriculture, oil and gas, fire, and industrial markets — engineering equipment that's used hard, in the field, every day. We're Built to Lead, and that shows up in how we build products and how we build careers: we invest in people, push for continuous improvement, and don't cut corners.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platforms to lead the design, development, and operation of distributed systems and cloud-native services using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. This is a senior individual contributor role — you'll own architecture and technical direction for production systems at enterprise scale, stay hands-on with code and operations, and help set the bar for engineering practice across the team.
What You'll Do
Lead the design, implementation, and long-term evolution of backend services, APIs, and distributed application components using C# and .NET
Own technical design for complex systems — service boundaries, data flow, resiliency patterns, fault tolerance, scalability, and performance
Architect and deliver cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, using platform services, messaging, storage, identity, monitoring, and automation appropriate for enterprise-scale systems
Drive engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, technical standards, and testing strategy
Partner with product, program, QA, and engineering peers to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions
Lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues across application, infrastructure, and data layers
Improve reliability and operational maturity through observability, alerting, automation, and incident response
Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and developer workflows
Mentor engineers through technical guidance and design feedback, helping raise the engineering bar across the team
Contribute to technical roadmaps, platform modernization efforts, and long-term architectural decisions
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field — or equivalent practical experience
6+ years of professional experience building and operating production-grade systems
Deep proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including modern application architecture, asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and service-oriented design
Strong hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting applications or services in Microsoft Azure
Demonstrated experience designing scalable REST APIs, service integrations, and distributed systems with attention to reliability, security, and maintainability
Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
Comfort using AI-assisted development tools to improve design, coding, testing, and documentation without sacrificing code quality or judgment
Experience leading technical design discussions and making architectural tradeoff decisions across multiple services
Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support skills across application and cloud environments
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
Nice to Have
Experience with ASP.NET Core, microservices, event-driven systems, background processing, and enterprise integration patterns
Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Monitor, and Entra ID
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure as code, environment automation, configuration management, and secure deployment practices
Strong understanding of observability, distributed tracing, caching, messaging patterns, and performance engineering
Experience modernizing legacy applications or migrating workloads to cloud-native architectures
A track record of mentoring engineers and shaping coding standards across teams
Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent cloud architecture experience
Why Puck
