Position Title: Senior Software Systems Engineer

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for improving, reviewing, and testing Vehicle Control System (VCS) software architecture, specifically in regard to application-level functionality and integration with our real-time operating system capabilities.

2. Developing VCS application software components in C++

3. Systems engineering work (requirements, test definition, architectural improvements, interfacing with other engineering stakeholders)

4. Designing, Developing and Improving Test Automation Infrastructure and Tools in Python.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or directly related field of study. Employer also requires the following:

  1. 3 years experience designing, developing, and testing embedded software for time and resource-constrained applications

  2. 3 years experience programming in C++ and C in a Linux environment

  3. 3 years safety-critical software experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, or similar applications

  4. 3 years experience in object-oriented design principles

  5. 3 years experience developing software on resource-constrained Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and configuring RTOSs such as FreeRTOS, DEOS, VxWorks, or Integrity

  6. 3 years experience scripting experience in Python, MATLAB, or Bash

  7. 1 year development experience with Publish or Subscribe architectures for Distributed Software Systems

  8. 1 year experience interpreting and reviewing electrical schematics

  9. 1 year experience working with common electrical lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, and Signal Generators.

• Hybrid position. Must reside within commuting distance from employer's North Kingstown, RI office (3 days a week in office minimum).
