Senior Specialist OR Technology Engineering

The Senior Specialist is the subject matter expert on all aspects of the administration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) interconnection. The Senior Specialist will assess customer and Company impacts of DER, especially solar photovoltaics (PV) in support of clean technology and renewable energy policy initiatives.

• Dedicated to enhancing the Customer Experience, both within the Company and externally and demonstrates a commitment to the ideal of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all our stakeholders. Must understand the customers' industry and business, the issues involved and how Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage relates to their business.
• Responsible for ensuring all aspects of DER interconnection are accurate and compliant with NY SIR and NJ mandates. Assess customer and Company impacts of various DER scenarios to support policy initiatives of the DG Ombudsman related to distribution system operations and both long- and short-term planning requirements.
• Reviews detailed specifications for system changes based on a deep understanding of the architecture and the business process or applications affected. Analyzes project tasks and provides alternatives/improvements to accomplish business implementation goals. Makes recommendations (business and technical) to improve applications and implements recommendations to achieve desired benefits.
• Lead efforts with diverse groups both internally and externally. Manages special projects as required.
• Exhibit extensive knowledge of DER interconnection, and the utility business.
• Perform economic analysis from both a corporate and customer point of view. Administers the project reconciliation process as per required timelines.
• Demonstrate proactive problem solving, the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and Company upper management and generate a high level of trust and confidence. Monitor Federal, State and City proceedings related to DER.
• Serves as the subject matter expert on the Interconnection Online Portal (IOAP). Responsible for implementing and testing changes and enhancements to the IOAP. Responsible for maintaining PowerClerk software and communicating with the vendor. Trains others on all aspects of the IOAP.
• Is the subject matter expert on all aspects of DER reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Writes white papers and prepare presentations for upper management.
• Supervises contractors as required.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Participates in the Company's emergency management processes and storm plans as required.

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' work experience in managing complex DER Interconnection projects or
• Associate's Degree and 4 years' work experience in managing complex DER Interconnection projects or
• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' work experience in managing complex DER Interconnection projects

• Must be proactive and flexible; a highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to understand and deal with technical issues as well as assess customer and Company economics associated with Distributed Generation. Required
• Must have the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff, and various levels of management. Required

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
