ELMET TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a
Senior Staff Accountant to be based in
Lewiston Maine.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Prepares or reviews monthly journal entries for each location.
- Ensures reconciliations are complete for review and approval.
- Reconcile all accounts on a monthly basis and/or reviews reconciliations prepared by other accounting staff.
- Prepares monthly financial statements for review by the Corporate Controller.
- Analyze and report on major drivers of variances.
- Maintain the fixed asset system and associated depreciation schedules.
- Track all capital projects in process, reporting status on a regular basis.
- Assist with the annual audit preparation.
- Assist management in driving financial accountability throughout the organization.
- Ensure timely submission and accuracy of month/year end financial statements.
- Provide support to the annual plan and budget process.
- Ad hoc analysis of financial information.
- Supports the Corporate Controller with other tasks and projects as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
- Comprehensive understanding of the GL and financial statements (experience with SEC reporting and SOX a plus)
- Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) proficiency.
- Public Accounting experience with emphasis on audit a plus.
- Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Detail oriented and focus on implementing processes to ensure accuracy of work.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and research skills.
- Must be proactive and be able to initiate discussions, dig deeply into issues based on intuition and experience, and resolve discrepancies.
- Must have strong Microsoft Excel and pivot table skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employment tasks normally performed at Elmet Technologies facility.
- Must be able to read, write, hear, and speak the English language sufficiently and comprehensibly enough to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Works with a computer for 8+ hours/day.
- Routinely communicates face-to-face, via telephone and by computer.
- Must be able to walk a 1/8 mile without difficulty, bend, reach and lift 10lbs to shoulder height.
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions which may include loud noise, variable temperatures, and dust.
