Senior Staff Engineer

Flight Operations. Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will serve as a helicopter flight operations technical expert, integrating with both engine program personnel and external customers to provide customer product support and develop processes to meet business needs, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.****Job Description****
**Roles and Responsibilities**
-Manage tasks related to the design, evaluation, and operational employment of assigned engine programs using sound engineering principles and operational aviation expertise, and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
-Initiate/review flight test plans/flight cards to provide adequate data for confirming installation requirements, control functions, and helicopter handling.
-Interpret between flight test crews and Control Engineering to set aircraft requirements, limitations, and control limits.
-Identify customers technical requirements; Ensures proper understanding of technical customer needs and determines effective solutions.
-Responsible for customer interface to all engine issues that arise during flight test, including installation issues and troubleshooting.
-Provide technical support to personnel supporting the assigned engine programs.
-Interface directly with customers and partners as needed.
-Drive the documentation of technical data and operational procedures.
-Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
-Key presenter or reviewer in technical briefs including engine entry-into-service briefs and operational recommendations.
-Attend customer meetings and reviews; Coordinates, facilitates, and supports reviews on emergent issues and customers comments as needed.
-Manage workload and provide technical/functional leadership and expertise to supported programs or peers.
-Manage teams as necessary to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
-Develop and mentor team members.
**Required Qualifications:**
* Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or physical science discipline from an accredited college or university
* FAA pilot certification or former military pilot

* Strong oral and written communications skills
* English proficient (no restrictions)
**Desired Qualifications**
* Master of Science degree in an engineering or physical science discipline from an accredited college or university
* Significant helicopter operational experience including flight test
* FAA Airline Transport Pilot certification
* Operational experience with FAR Part 121 airline
* Experience working in an engineering field
* Customer service or product support experience
