The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) scientist to support our discovery and emerging clinical programs. Reporting to the SD, Clinical Pharmacology and DMPK, this individual will serve as a DMPK representative in cross-functional project teams for drug discovery programs, supporting the DMPK efforts from early discovery through clinical development, focusing initially on building in-house capabilities for biotransformation and metabolite identification.  This individual will also support the company’s internal and outsourced DMPK studies. The successful candidate will become an expert in biotransformation within our R&D organization. This will be an outstanding opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues who all share a passion for developing new therapeutics that will make a difference for patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacokinetics, Clinical Pharmacology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with at least 10+ years of DMPK drug discovery experience; 6+ years in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of drug metabolism, drug transporters, drug-drug interactions, in vitro methodologies, and LC-MS instruments. The candidate will have experience leading DMPK efforts for programs spanning multiple target classes and therapeutic indications, and a track record of driving one or more programs that have yielded drug candidates entering clinical development. 
 
REQUIREMENTS
 
•         Extensive experience acting as a lead DMPK cross-functional project representative.
•         Demonstrated ability to independently design studies to assess the potential for in vitro/in vivo metabolite profiling, reaction phenotyping, enzyme inhibition, enzyme induction, plasma protein binding, enzyme kinetic studies, and radiolabeled human and animal ADME studies.
•         A track record of successful management of external teams at contract research organizations is preferred.
•         Outstanding communication skills with demonstrated ability to make effective presentations in a broad range of settings, and strong collaboration with other departments.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $170,000 - $185,000. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location and relevant education or training. Septerna's compensation package also includes benefits, stock options, and annual target bonus for full-time positions.
