We are Responsive We have Integrity We are Dynamic We exhibit ExcellenceGENERAL SUMMARYPRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupporting Systems Engineering and Product Engineering as needed in various roles, which will range in scope from Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Regulatory and Safety Engineering, development of system architectures, weight management, interfacing between Product Engineering and System Engineering Groups, Reliability and Maintainability (RAM) Engineering support, Program Management support, Project Tracking, Issue Tracking, and Build supportPerform market requirements analysis to define product roadmaps and company product development initiativesPerform architecture analysis tracing requirements to derived system elements (e.g., functional definition, subsystems, components, hardware, software, physical attributes, interfaces, etc.)Coordinate with all functional product disciplines to meet product architecture requirementsDevelop system product structure to support vehicle architecture designDevelop vehicle interface specification and attributes to support subsystem design, component hardware and software, and assembliesIdentify and lead product review cycles, phase milestone/gate reviews, approval of technical work products, and delivery of customer productsDefine requirements for life-cycle design reviews mapping contract Statement of Work (SOW), review entrance and exit criteria, etc.Define work product checklistsLead trade studies and analysis activities for system architecture and identify support required for product commonality, technology maturity, production readiness, environment, health, safety, human factors, Design for Reliability (DFR), etc.Define test criteria for requirements verification and validationWork with Systems Requirements Lead in the development of the system requirements, traceability, and allocation to functional elements, physical elements, and system performance specificationsWork with Systems Test and Evaluation Lead in the development of system test plans and procedures, systems laboratory testing, and support system qualification in fieldDefine plans and requirements for activities to support implementation, integration and production readinessCoordinate and implement plan(s) to support system and product build activitiesProvide status of system activities, metrics, and issues to support system and product needsAssists in establishing design parameters to achieve most cost-effective approach consistent with the end item of specifications, performance, and reliability objectivesEnsures that products meet Federal, State, and local regulations as well as international homologation requirements for such items as safety and emission standardsEstablishes designs through calculations, analysis, and various design verification techniquesApproves releasing engineering designs at prototype, test, development and production phases of a programDetermines test requirementsOversees or may assist in set-up/monitoring of a testing programAnalyzes, evaluates and reports test results to determine acceptability or needed modifications in meeting specificationsMaintains contact with vendors and subcontractors to keep abreast of new materials, products, sources, pricing and lead time requirementsSolicit vendor knowledge and participation in product standardization and cost reductionProvides information and direction to facilitate building of prototype vehiclesRevises design package based on feedback from prototype activitiesProvides engineering analysis of field problems and, as required, makes recommendations for, and implements, corrective actionAssists the manufacturing group during production startup and resolves engineering changes for effective production runKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSMinimum Skills, Experience, and Requirements BSME/BSEE/BSET and 10+ years experience, or related field experience plus 2-5 years experience on total vehicle or component design/developmentS. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noisesTeamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplaceListening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accuratelyAbility to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competentlyMethodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production lineConcentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes.
