Job Description - Senior Technical Recruiter

Beacon is building the essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy: the businesses, organizations, and services that make real life work, and that mainstream tech has largely left behind. We acquire, operate, and grow vertical market software companies — niche, founder-built businesses serving industries that are often overlooked and too profitable to ignore.

Our model is simple: we seek out founders who have built their business by spending years understanding their market and prioritizing their customers' specific needs. We buy great businesses, invest in their continued growth, and hold them permanently — accelerating that growth with an AI-native platform built specifically for vertical market software. No mandate to cut, flip, or roll up into something unrecognizable.

About the Role

At Beacon Software, we don’t just "fill seats." We acquire and scale vertical market software companies across North America. We move fast, stay lean, and believe that a company is only as good as the people building the code.

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Recruiter who views talent acquisition as a craft. You’re someone who can spot an elite engineer from a mile away, close a product lead in a competitive market, and navigate the constantly evolving landscape of high-growth tech with a steady hand and a sense of humor.

What You'll Be Doing

  • The Full Cycle: Own the journey from the first Hello to the signed offer for engineering, product, and everything in between.

  • Strategic Partnership: You won’t just take orders. You’ll sit down with our engineering and product leaders to design hiring strategies that actually work in today’s market.

  • Creative Sourcing: Beyond the standard LinkedIn scroll, you’re comfortable diving into GitHub, niche communities, and your own deep network. You know how to use AI tools to work smarter, not harder.

  • Operational Excellence: We use Ashby, and we love it. You’ll keep our data clean and our process disciplined - tight feedback loops and operational excellence are your bread and butter.

  • The Close: You’re a natural at navigating compensation benchmarks and competing offers. You read candidates well and know how to win without losing your cool.

  • Brand Building: Help us tell the Beacon story. You’ll be a key voice in making us a talent magnet in hubs like San Francisco and the Bay Area at large, Toronto, and NYC.

 

What You Bring

  • 7+ Years of Experience: You’ve been in the trenches of technical recruiting and have a successful track record of notable senior engineering hires.

  • Startup DNA: You’ve thrived in high-growth environments where things change fast. You don’t need a manual; you’re happy to write one.

  • Technical Fluency: You can talk shop. You understand the difference between a good engineer and a great one without a lot of hiring manager input.

  • Communication: Whether it’s a witty/engaging cold outreach or a high-stakes offer call, your communication is polished, persuasive, and authentic.

  • Autonomy: You’re self-directed. You know how to prioritize your reqs, manage your time, and deliver results. Our leadership philosophy is to guide, not supervise.

  • Hands-on experience with modern ATS platforms; Ashby or Greenhouse strongly preferred.

  • BA/BS Degree

  • Product Savvy: You’ve recruited Product Managers and have an understanding for attributes that make them successful.

  • Agency Roots: You spent time in an agency and bring a deep-seated sense of urgency and relentless focus on delivery.

  • Toronto Ties: You have a SF Bay Area network in the start-up/tech ecosystem.

  • Process Design: You’ve built interview rubrics and calibration sessions from scratch because you love a fair, data-driven process.
