Job Description - Senior Technical Writer

Why join Upscale AI

Upscale AI is building the high-performance infrastructure powering the next generation of artificial intelligence. Backed by over $300M in funding and rapid global adoption, we are scaling systems designed for the world’s most demanding AI workloads.

We focus on first-principles engineering across silicon, systems, and networking—where performance, scale, and execution are critical. Our team is talent-dense and high-performing. We value ownership, technical rigor, and speed, and we offer the opportunity to work on foundational problems with immediate, real-world impact.

If you’re looking to do high-impact work, move fast, and help define the infrastructure behind the future of AI—Upscale AI is where you can produce meaningful work at the frontier—and operate at a high standard.

The Role

We need a Senior Technical Writer to own all technical content across Scaleout, Scaleup, and Orchestration. You'd be the person responsible for documentation quality, covering everything from technical docs to release notes to security responses. This role is the "voice" of the customer experience that the customer hears.

This is an IC role.

You'll be part of the Customer Experience / Technical Operations team, working alongside the people who talk to customers every day. What you write directly affects how customers use the product and how quickly they can solve problems.

What You'll Own

Product Documentation

  • Write and maintain technical documentation across all three product areas (Scaleout, Scaleup, Orchestration).

  • Set documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines.

  • Work with engineering and product teams to document new features, APIs, integrations, and architecture.

Security Responses and Incident Content

  • Write security response documents (SIRTs) that are clear, accurate, and scoped for the right audience.

  • Make sure remediation steps are technically correct, actionable, and grammatically clean.

  • Work with security and operations teams to standardize how we write and format incident communications.

Knowledge Base and Self-Service Content

  • Review and maintain KB articles for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Find gaps in self-service content and fill them.

  • Work with support teams to turn recurring ticket patterns into documentation that reduces repeat questions.

Release Communications

  • Write release notes that explain engineering changes in language customers can act on.

  • Work with product and engineering to make sure every release is fully documented.

Customer Presentations and Sales Enablement

  • Help build and polish customer-facing presentations so layout, structure, and visuals match company standards.

  • Review messaging in decks and demos for clarity, accuracy, and consistency across product areas.

  • Work with sales, customer success, and product marketing to keep presentation content up to date.

Customer-Facing Content Oversight

  • Be the last set of eyes on anything customer-facing: presentations, UI copy, in-app messaging, email templates, and anything else that goes external.

  • Review content from other teams for clarity, tone, grammar, and technical accuracy.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • 5-8 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in B2B SaaS, infrastructure, or security products.

  • Can write for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience writing incident reports, runbooks, or security-related documentation.

  • Strong editorial eye. You catch ambiguity, inconsistency, and bad grammar before it ships.

  • Can pick up complex technical products quickly and explain them in plain, precise language.

  • Experience working with engineering and product teams to get the technical details right.

  • Comfortable being the only writer covering multiple product lines at once.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, static site generators).

  • Familiarity with orchestration platforms, infrastructure automation, or cloud-native tooling.

  • Background in cybersecurity or experience writing for security-focused products.

  • Prior experience building a documentation practice from scratch or scaling a small content team.

  • Familiarity with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, ReadMe).

Why This Role Matters

Our customers rely on our docs to run critical infrastructure, respond to security events, and adopt new features. Good documentation reduces support load, builds trust, and speeds up adoption.

Growth Path

This is an individual contributor role today. As UpscaleAI grows, we plan to build a documentation team. The person in this role would be the obvious choice to lead it and shape how it's built.

$197,000 - $213,000 a year

Where you fall within that range depends on your experience, skills, and impact—we benchmark against internal levels to keep things fair and consistent.

Equal Opportunity

Upscale AI is building a team that reflects a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. We’re proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.

Accessibility & Accommodations

We’re committed to making our hiring process accessible to everyone. If you need accommodations at any stage, just reach out to us at [email protected]—we’re happy to help. Note: This inbox is only for accommodation requests.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
