GAI is seeking a Senior Transmission Line EIT 2 to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems.
The Senior Transmission Line EIT 2 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI’s Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
- Preparation of Specification Packages
- Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
- Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
- Design and Analysis of foundations.
- Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.
- Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
- Must demonstrate attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
- Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
- Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews.
Education and Training Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil, or Electrical engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) licensure required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in transmission line design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.
- Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
- Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE) and FAD Tools.

- Candidates with a minimum of 1-year of experience and knowledge in PLS-CADD are eligible for remote work.
- Candidates without PLS-CADD knowledge need to be based at any GAI office on-site or on a hybrid schedule.

- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification

Project and Task Management
- Works as a part of a team and coordinates work with others.
- Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.

- Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems and possible solutions.
- Receives a thorough review of completed work for the application of sound professional judgment.
- Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer typically in their specialty.
Communication Skills
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Interacts with other staff.
- Interacts with clients with close oversight.
- Interacts closely with Project Managers & various Department Managerial Staff, especially with client communications.
- Interacts with clients at regular project meetings.
Travel
- Must be able to travel to GAI and client offices, site visits as needed.

- Ability to work indoors in professional office settings.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
- Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings.
- Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
- Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.
