Job Description - Senior Warehouse Associate/Driver

Position Title: Associate/Driver - Warehouse Operations

Classification: Non-Exempt/Full-Time

Location: Lebanon, NH | White River Junction, VT | Canaan, NH

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00/Hour

Objective: The Senior Warehouse Associate/Driver plays a key role in supporting LISTEN Community Services’ mission by ensuring the efficient flow, organization, and transportation of goods for agency operations. This individual will lead by example in daily warehouse functions, manage donation pickups and deliveries, and provide high-quality customer service to donors and shoppers.

Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations


  • Receive, sort, and organize incoming donations with attention to quality, safety, and service standards

  • Oversee donation intake processes and provide training or support to warehouse staff and volunteers

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, layout, and safety protocols in accordance with organizational policies

  • Identify and prepare items for transport to retail store locations, as needed

  • Coordinate loading/unloading procedures and inventory staging areas

  • Assist with various facilities and operation needs as requested.

Driving & Transportation


  • Operate LISTEN’s box truck or van to pick up and deliver donated goods across the Upper Valley region

  • Safely lift and move heavy furniture and household items using proper equipment and techniques

  • Provide excellent customer service during donation pickups, fostering donor relationships

  • Maintain vehicle logs, perform basic inspections, and report maintenance issues promptly

  • Ensure loading and unloading procedures meet safety standards and protect donated items

Leadership & Support


  • Serve as a senior team member supporting warehouse coordination and mentoring junior staff and volunteers

  • Act as point person in the absence of Warehouse Operations Manager for donation intake and logistics

  • Support other agency staff with special projects, seasonal shifts, and community engagement events

  • Model LISTEN’s values of respect, compassion, and service in all interactions

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years experience in warehouse, retail, or logistics work (nonprofit or thrift store experience a plus)

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Ability to pass a DOT physical

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (75-100 lbs) safely and repeatedly

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with donors and shoppers courteously

  • Comfortable driving a box truck (up to 16-18 ft); training provided if necessary

Experience: Previous experience working in warehouse, moving, retail and customer service is preferred.

Cognitive Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers and donors. The employee is frequently required to use written communication and is occasionally required to use math skills. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to be on their feet, walking and standing. The employee is frequently required to reach, handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation). The employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb stairs, push, and pull. The employee is rarely required to crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, twist, stretch and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move between 25-50lbs and minimally required to lift and/or move between 50-100+lbs.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be continuously exposed to noise and will occasionally be exposed to fumes (cleaning solutions) and dust (from sweeping and dusting). The employee will also experience various seasonal temperatures while working with donors bringing their donations from outside to inside the sorting area. The sorting area has some environmental control but is exposed to outside temperatures when doors are open.
