Senior Windows Engineer

Client First Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Windows Engineer to support a contract with our government customer.  The Senior Windows Engineer will be responsible for Windows client engineering in our customer's environment with an emphasis on hardware driver compatibility, baseline creation and maintenance, and lab validation.  This is a full-time position located in Albany, New York. Key Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot drivers and peripherals across desktops, laptops, and tablets; coordinate with third-party driver vendors to resolve issues.
• Serve as primary engineering point of contact for creating and maintaining multiple Windows baselines; participate in baseline project calls and perform compatibility testing.
• Utilize CM and Intune to support lab testing and application package validation.
• Participate in daily Windows client engineering calls; contribute weekly engineering support summaries.
• Provide recommendations on sequencing, CM/Intune package creation, and task sequences to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Follow customer security and change management requirements and performance metrics (quality, schedule, staffing, management integration).

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years Windows client engineering in large enterprises; expertise with Configuration Manager OSD, driver management, and baseline engineering.
• Strong PowerShell and Windows troubleshooting skills (eventing, logs, driver signing, hardware diagnostics).
• Experience validating software and hardware in controlled labs and documenting procedures and results.
• Familiarity with Intune, GPOs, and packaging/testing workflows.

Required Clearances and Screenings

• This position is subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility for a position designated with Low Risk sensitivity. Candidates with current Veterans Affairs (VA) Tier 1/Low Background Investigation or equivalent (e.g., DoD Tier 3/NACLC, Active Secret) are preferred.
