Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Fault Response Verification

An industry-leading autonomous driving technology company has engaged us to find a Software Engineer – Fault Response Verification to help ensure the safety and reliability of next-generation self-driving systems. In this hands-on individual contributor role, you'll define and verify how autonomous vehicles respond to system faults, develop validation frameworks that quantify safety risk, and build scalable tooling that strengthens the reliability of autonomous driving software. You'll work across the full autonomy stack, helping shape the safety architecture that enables commercial deployment at scale.

Impactful Work:
You'll play a critical role in ensuring autonomous vehicles behave safely when unexpected faults occur. Working closely with Autonomy, Evaluation Infrastructure, and Data Science teams, you'll define system-level fault response requirements, develop safety metrics, build validation pipelines, and contribute directly to the company's Safety Case and risk assessment framework. Your work will influence both near-term product releases and the long-term evolution of autonomous driving capabilities.

 

We're looking for someone who has:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related technical field.


• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years developing software for robotics, autonomous systems, or related technologies.


• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.


• Solid understanding of robotic systems architecture, including sensing, localization, perception, prediction, behavior planning, and control.


• Experience working with simulation and real-world validation of autonomous or robotic systems.


• Excellent analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
