Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join our Defense Systems team supporting the U.S. Air Force Sentinel program. The applicant will be responsible for the design, development, production, and deployment of launch-equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. Working in a dynamic, people-focused environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with users, customers, and fellow engineers to deliver high performance mechanical solutions for the Sentinel program.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\u2022 Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program\n\n\u2022 Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment\n\n\u2022 Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center\n\n\u2022 Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis\n\n\u2022 Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance\n\n\u2022 Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.\n\n\u2022 Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.\n\n\u2022 Attend internal program meetings, customer technical exchanges, and supplier briefings; present design status during formal milestone reviews\n\n\u2022 Assisting IPT lead in managing team schedule and mentoring junior engineers in mechanical design\n\nThis position\u0027s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. \n\nThis position can be filled as a Principal (level 3) or a Sr. Principal (level 4) depending on experience and qualfications.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 3): Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field and 5 years of relevant experience; or Master\u0027s degree with 3 years of relevant experience\n * Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 4): Bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field and 8 years of relevant experience; 6 years of relevant experience with a Master\u2019s degree\n * Active or current Secret clearance at time of application\n * Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need\n * 5+ years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)\n * 5+ years of xxperience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems (mechanisms preferred)\n * Familiar with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)\n * Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction\n * Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content\n * Knowledge of GD\u0026T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes\n * Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and drive technical decisions\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Experience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release process\n * Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards\n * Experience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles\n * Experience with ICBMs or launch equipment systems\n * Experience performing dynamic and static analysis (NX Motion or ANSYS preferred)\n * Proficiency in DOORS, CAMEO, Jira and Confluence\n * Experience in managing or leading an interdisciplinary engineering team from concept creation through test and verification\n * Experience as a Control Account Management (CAM)\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
