Job Description - Service & Parts Advisor

Description

Boater's World Marine Centers is seeking an experienced Service & Parts Advisor for our Islamorada, FL location. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers’ service and parts needs, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring smooth and efficient service operations. Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Serve as the main liaison between the service department and our customers, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
  • Assist customers in diagnosing their marine vehicle issues, guiding them through necessary services, and ensuring all inquiries are handled efficiently.
  • Keep customers informed of repair status, parts availability, and estimated completion times.
  • Promote complementary products and services to enhance the customer’s experience and increase sales.
  • Address and resolve any customer complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Service Writing:

  • Accurately document customer concerns, vehicle issues, and service requests.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate repair orders (ROs) using the Lightspeed dealership management system.
  • Provide accurate estimates for services, including materials, labor, and additional fees, ensuring customers understand the breakdown of costs.
  • Obtain customer approvals for any additional work required beyond the initial scope of repair.
  • Ensure timely updates to the customer throughout the service process, from intake to completion.

Parts Management:

  • Assist both internal and external customers in quickly locating and ordering parts and accessories, ensuring high accuracy in parts identification.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of our parts inventory, helping customers find the best options for their needs.
  • Process vendor orders, maintain organized stock, and ensure parts are readily available to service technicians.
  • Actively promote additional products and accessories, driving sales in both service and parts areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the parts department, ensuring a professional workspace suitable for public view.

Job Coordination & Scheduling:

  • Work closely with service technicians to schedule jobs, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of all work orders.
  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure that all necessary parts are available before starting repairs to minimize delays.
  • Monitor technician performance, tracking job progress and providing feedback to ensure quality and efficiency.

Inventory & Compliance:

  • Keep accurate records of parts transactions and inventory, reconciling discrepancies to ensure stock levels are properly managed.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and operational standards, and adhere to state regulations in processing repair orders.

Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Parts and Service Advisor role, preferably in the marine or automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in Lightspeed dealership management software or similar systems is required.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-centric attitude with a commitment to providing the highest level of service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of marine vehicle systems, outboard engines, and general boating products is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, parts staff, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and kneeling as required to assist customers and manage parts inventory.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with potential exposure to noise, chemicals, and physical hazards.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is on-site at our Islamorada, FL  location.
  • May occasionally require more than 40 hours per week, depending on seasonal demand.
