Job Description - Service Director- Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (Statewide)

Responsibilities:

  • Guides AWARE in advocacy, systems change, capacity building, and cultural competency efforts to promote self-determination, integration, and inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Establishes and assesses service delivery goals, objectives, priorities, and implementation guidelines.
  • Directs the development and implementation of home and community-based systems change initiatives.
  • Evaluates and prepares reports on the effectiveness of programs for providing services to the developmentally disabled.
  • Conducts meetings with assigned staff members to disseminate information.
  • Establishes priorities and procedures for the allocation and coordination of resources.
  • Advocates for the developmental disabilities program with state agencies, service and volunteer agencies, the legislature, and other interested groups.
  • Monitors the administration and delivery of developmental disabilities services statewide to ensure state and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Directs the collection, compilation, and analysis of key performance indicators, demographic, and other data and prepares appropriate plans, reports, and recommendations on the status of the service delivery systems.
  • Performs the full range of supervisory duties.
  • The employee in this job may participate in the performance of subordinates’ work consistent with operational or organizational requirements.

 
**Must live in Montana and be willing to travel**

Requirements

Talents, skills, and abilities:

  • 6 years of professional health or human services experience, including 3 years of professional experience working with people with developmental disabilities and 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Experience managing service delivery systems for people with Intellectual disabilities.
  • Superior knowledge of services for people with intellectual disabilities, including case management, self-direction, nursing, behavioral health, employment, transitioning youth, children and  family services, housing, technology, and person-centered planning.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality assurance efforts for people with intellectual disabilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate may have a combination of education and experience, with a bachelor's degree in a related field (like social work, public administration, or psychology) being an expectation.  A master's degree in social work (MSW) or a related field (like public health or public administration) is preferred, along with:

Progressive Experience: Several years of progressively responsible experience in social services, including experience in management and supervision. 

Supervisory Experience: Experience supervising professional staff is a common requirement, demonstrating leadership and management skills. 

Program Management: Experience in program planning, development, and evaluation is also highly valued
