Job Description - Service Technician I - Lake Club Marina
Responsibilities:
Works safely and efficiently to produce billable repairs and maintenance on work orders
Diagnose and repair mechanical components (50%): This includes outboard motors, inboard motors, drive systems and jet skis. All manufactures of motors and out-drives are included. This work requires the employee to work in various conditions and environments. Includes individual being able to climb, lift, bend and orient body in such a manner as to perform the related task.
Electronic installation and repair (35%). Candidate must be proficient in the use of wiring schematics and diagrams. Requires candidate to install wiring, fuses and controls for electronic devices such as radios, depth finders, trolling motors, GPS units and other electronic accessories. This work requires employee to work in various working conditions and environments. Requires bending and flexing involved in working in tight spaces.
Preventative maintenance (5%): Candidate will be follow preventative maintenance program and be responsible for maintaining fleet of rental boats as well as other fleet vehicles used at the marina facility. These responsibilities include tune-ups, daily inspections, oil changes and various other duties which involve the candidate to be mobile and able to work in all weather conditions and environments.
Parts ordering, inventory, billing statements, and customer relations (10%): Ordering parts from vendors and keeping accurate records of on hand inventory. Preparing work orders for billing and keeping accurate records for future maintenance for customers. Interaction with members and guests to ensure customer satisfaction.
Keeps neat and accurate records for billing purposes, to account for labor and parts used, and to assess parts needed for recommended repairs. This involves taking an inventory of parts necessary for repair, ordering of parts if necessary and proper logging of parts used for repair to insure billing is accurate.
Employee will be responsible for insuring a safe and clean, orderly working environment is maintained. This involves routine cleaning and organizing equipment, tools and other miscellaneous items. Lifting, carrying, pushing, bending are required to perform these duties.
Performs other duties as assigned by management, which could include the following: forklift and facility maintenance, new boat rigging, boat towing and delivery, and house calls. Any of these functions require carrying tools and parts for unknown distances to complete tasks, driving of vehicles from service truck, forklift, and service boat, and walking various distances to get to work locations.
Organize and assign service requests daily to maximize productivity.
Communicate with customers and vendors to ensure prompt, professional service.
Establish proactive maintenance programs and promotions to improve customer satisfaction
Organize computer communications with engine dealerships to improve parts ordering, technical updates, customer history, and warranty tracking
Maintain inventory of tools and parts needed for repairs, and research best sources
Maintain neat and accurate records of billing, warranty, service dealership training and technical updates
Promote training of hourly staff at both marinas to improve service, safety, and efficiency
Act as second-in-command in the absence of the Director.
Qualifications:
Must have strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn.
Knowledge, certification, and experience in boat engine repairs helpful.
Experience in electrical field & ability to read schematics preferred.
Experience in welding, electrical and torch preferred.
Must have some boat operation and towing knowledge.
Must be capable of moderate to heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs.)
Must be able to work in various environments which include hot, cold, wet, dry, dark, and in confined areas.
Must be in good physical condition based on mobility demands, distance walking with carrying, climbing, lifting, bending, and physical endurance for multiple trips to various locations.
Must be willing and able to attend on and off campus training to enhance knowledge and skill.
Must have valid GA driver’s license and a good driving record.
Ability to swim desired.
