Service Writer

Reports To (Supervisor/Hiring Manager Title): Shop Supervisor

Onsite 100%

Position Overview/Job Description: The Service Writer at Taylor Express works with drivers, mechanics and dispatchers daily to help ensure that we have a safe fleet on the road. This position reports to the Shop Supervisor and works closely with our shop and dispatch team. They will be responsible for assigning work to the mechanics, working with our drivers on the phone regarding breakdowns, managing shop inventory, and completing administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

· Controls the shop workflow by assessing priorities, room and parts availability

· Assists the Shop Supervisor with inventory control

· Assign work to technicians according to skill and priority

· Provides general assistance to Shop Supervisor

· Scan repair orders and all shop paperwork to Shop Supervisor

· Reinforce and adhere to company policies and procedures

· Help maintain a clean and safe work environment

· Other duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor

Qualifications: 

· Prior service experience within a heavy truck shop required

· Computer proficiency

· Current driver’s license with an acceptable MVR

· CDL is a plus but not required

· Ability to work independently and with others

· Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and communicate

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required.

Salary/Hourly Rate: $20/hr.
