Service Writer - School Bus

The Service Writer acts as the primary liaison between customers and service technicians, managing vehicle service requests, customer communication, and workflow coordination. 

Key Responsibilities: 
Service writer will be responsible for greeting customers, understanding vehicle concerns, and translating those concerns into service orders for technicians. Providing cost estimates, explain recommended services, and updating customers on repair progress. 

• Scheduling appointments and managing service department workflow.
• Processing orders, payments, and finalizing billing.
• Handling customer complaints, returns, and grievances.
• Maintaining accurate service records and documenting all customer interactions.
• Coordinating parts procurement and ensuring availability for scheduled repairs.
• Acting as a customer relationship manager and promoting repeat business. 

Skills to be successful as a Service Writer:
A successful Service Writer combines technical knowledge of automotive services with strong customer service and communication skills. 

• Ability to explain complex repairs in plain language.
• Attention to detail for accurate service documentation.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple service orders simultaneously.
• Problem-solving and conflict resolutions for customer issues.
• Basic computer proficiency for scheduling, billing, and record-keeping.
• Effective communication between technicians, parts staff, and other service department personnel.
