Reports to: Director of Client Services


 


The Opportunity 


Tandem Center for Shared Business Success is seeking a driven and resourceful team member to join us at a pivotal stage of growth. This role offers the opportunity to help shape Tandem’s future while building expertise in Direct Employee Ownership and using business as a force for good.


 


This is a uniquely dynamic and entrepreneurial role. We’re looking for someone who can confidently lead client engagements, contribute to business development and relationship building, and roll up their sleeves to strengthen and scale our internal systems and processes. The right candidate will be comfortable flexing between client delivery, sales conversations, business development, and operational improvement depending on where demand is greatest.

Team Member


The Shared Success Coach will lead implementations of profit-sharing and direct employee ownership programs for a growing portfolio of client businesses, while assisting with business development efforts to attract and onboard new clients. This includes facilitating Tandem’s 5-phase process - Explore, Evaluate, Design, Implement, and Enhance - and partnering with business leaders to tailor each program to their goals and realities.


While your primary focus will be client engagements and business development, you’ll also collaborate on strengthening internal tools, systems, and strategy to support Tandem’s long-term growth. This position requires comfort with ambiguity, initiative to improve how we work, and a passion for shared success.


 


Job Summary


 


Client Engagement



  • Lead the delivery of Tandem’s 5-phase process with business clients—from discovery through implementation and long-term enhancement.

  • Partner with business leaders to co-design solutions that reflect their values, needs, and vision.

  • Facilitate client education on employee ownership, open-book management, and profit-sharing principles.

  • Manage project timelines, communication, and key deliverables for successful adoption of programs.

  • Contribute to project-based revenue through high-quality client delivery.


 


Business Development



  • Conduct Explore Phase meetings with potential clients

  • Nurture incoming leads by establishing relationships and helping to convert them into opportunities

  • Attend conferences and other public events to increase awareness of our mission

  • Building strategic relationships with clients and partners


 


Organizational Growth



  • Help strengthen and refine our processes, templates, and tools to scale our impact and improve efficiency.

  • Contribute to mentoring future team members as we grow.

  • Adapt to evolving needs, pitch in on cross-functional projects, and help where help is needed in a small but growing team.

  • Embrace a “many hats” mindset — supporting client delivery, business development, marketing, and operational initiatives as priorities shift, working directly alongside the Executive Director and team to advance Tandem’s mission.


Requirements and Skills


 


Education



  • 4-Year Degree and/or equivalent experience.


 


Experience



  • 5+ years of business experience in operating companies, professional services, or similar environments.

  • Background in project management, technical assistance delivery, or consulting is a plus.

  • Experience with nonprofit organizations, startups, or employee ownership models is a bonus.


Skills



  • Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen.

  • Comfortable interpreting financials, governance documents, and operational systems.

  • Strong communicator who builds trust with diverse stakeholders.

  • Tech-savvy with tools like Google Workspace, MS Office, HubSpot, and Zoom.

  • Emotionally intelligent, proactive, and flexible in the face of change.

  • Mission-aligned and excited to work in a collaborative, evolving startup culture.

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in environments with evolving priorities.
