Location: Coral Springs, FL
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of sheet metal products, such as ducts, boxes, sheet metal fittings, and plenums. Welding is not required but it’s a plus! The role is responsible for setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; or inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
Additionally, this role is responsible for performing warehouse related functions of handling merchandise and product incoming or outgoing including shipping, receiving, transferring, stocking, picking, and pulling product for customers, vendors, and branch locations as required. This role would also support shop sales office team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and operating hand and power tools common to the sheet metal trade.
- Laying out, positioning, aligning, and securing parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
- Operating various sheet metal shears, brake presses, roll former and other sheet metal operations.
- Reading blueprints and metal layout drawings for fitting and fabricating metal products.
- Accurately measuring and using math skills when studying plans and specifications to determine the kind and quantity of materials needed.
- Correctly selecting types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material.
- Properly measuring and marking dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets and drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
- Effectively installing metal sheets with supportive frameworks.
- Properly make the required calculations and use tapes and rulers to lay out the work prior to cutting or stamping the parts.
- Before assembling pieces, adequately checking each part for accurate measurements and, if necessary, uses hand rotary or squaring shears and hacksaws to finish pieces. No welding required!
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or its GED equivalent
- 1 year or more experience with warehousing and related functions.
- High degree of personal ethics, customer service, and commitment to safety.
