Do you dream of making a real difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them? The Alaska SPCA is seeking an Adoption Center Manager to lead our dedicated team in connecting pets with their “furever” homes.

As the leader of our 10-dog, 15-cat Adoption Center, you’ll oversee the daily operations of our shelter, ensure the highest standards of animal care, and bring creativity to marketing, outreach, and adoption efforts. This is a hands-on leadership role where your passion for animals meets your skill in people management and community engagement.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and inspire a team of animal care staff and volunteers, ensuring every pet receives exceptional care and enrichment.


• Manage adoptions, foster placements, and outreach events to keep pets moving from shelter to loving homes quickly and safely.


• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for animals, staff, and visitors.


• Capture and share compelling animal stories to inspire adoptions and community support.


• Collaborate with our veterinary team and community partners to give every pet the best chance at a happy, healthy future.

What We’re Looking For:

• A compassionate, organized leader with experience in animal welfare, sheltering, or veterinary settings.


• Someone with a knack for juggling schedules, inspiring staff and volunteers, and making sound decisions under pressure.


• A strong communicator who can connect with adopters, foster families, and the broader community.


• Prior supervisory experience and comfort with basic administrative tasks like scheduling, reporting, and supply management.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a standard schedule of Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and the opportunity to grow as a leader in the field of animal welfare.
